Electrochemistry, Electrochemical Conversion and Materials for Electrochemistry

  • Offers a range of lectures and tutorials to develop core disciplinary knowledge and skills
  • Facilitates company visits, workshops and seminars to focus on business, social innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Provides an exciting group project called the The Greatest Challenge.

  • Joint initiative of the Amsterdam electrochemistry community
  • Brings together researchers who are working on, and interested in electrochemistry and its applications
  • Connects researchers from institutes and companies at Amsterdam Science Park and the wider Amsterdam area
  • A learning community where MSc students,with research-based education, and HBO students, with professional based education, work together with academics and chemical industry on finding solutions for challenges of the energy sector
  • Facilitates research-based learning and community learning to stimulate development of holistic 2030 skills.

WHY

To produce graduates who can meet the demands of developing industries and new business, and help students to become agile learners, able to adapt and learn new things quickly in a new fast-changing environment.

HOW

Educating students a broad range of skills, including academic competencies, but also teamwork, digital skills, critical thinking, communication, persistence, creativity, ethical attitude and empathy.

Programme Activities

Amcel (Guest) Lectures Given by individuals who are well-known experts and possess advanced knowledge in the field of electrochemistry (fundamental & applied) and materials for electrochemistry
Company visits Visits to private companies or NGOs with activities related to electrochemistry and energy transition
The Greatest Challenge
(Problem-solving session)
Mixed groups of HBO and WO chemistry students from MSc Chemistry (UvA/VU) and Inholland will work together within the expert network AMCEL to solve scientific and/or technological challenges related to the energy transition
Networking events With participants from national and international academia and industry, students participating in the programme, and alumni; Amcel annual symposium
Orientation market Presentation of the research and activities conducted within the Amcel network; career opportunities
Business & Sustainability Workshop Guest lecture and discussion session on Business Strategy & Energy Transition, Sustainable Development & Environment, Ethics, Responsibility & Sustainability.
